Massachusetts hosts National Health Center Week; League launches new website

8-10-09 Feature Story:

Community health centers from around the state are taking part in National Health Center Week (August 9-15), an annual celebration that highlights the important contributions community health centers are making in the more than 7,000 communities they serve nationwide. In Massachusetts, health centers are working on the frontlines of state efforts to implement near-universal health coverage by ensuring access to timely, ongoing primary and preventive care for one out of every nine state residents (more than 760,000) through more than 285 sites across the Commonwealth.

As a part of this important week, the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers is launching this new website. In addition to a major facelift, the League's new site has enhanced functionality that includes the ability to search for a health center by proximity and service; an employment search database for job seekers; a searchable calendar of events; and information for people in need of health insurance.
