MA health centers and the League profiled by RCHN Community Health Foundation

4-17-14 Feature Story:

New York, NY - The RCHN Community Health Foundation, a New York-based not-for-profit operating foundation which supports the work of the nation's community health centers, recently profiled the history of Massachusetts health centers and the League through a series of interviews with League Executive Vice President and COO Ellen Hafer, Harbor Health Services CEO Dan Driscoll, Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center CEO Toni McGuire, and East Boston Neighborhood Health Center CEO Manny Lopes. The piece talks about the 1965 founding of the first health center in the nation at Columbia Point, Dorchester; the social, economic, and political forces which helped to propel the community-based concept of care across the city, state and eventually the nation; and how health centers continue to serve the needs of their ever-changing communities.
