Electronic Medical Records

As we work to meet the cost and quality goals of health care reform, ongoing support for enhanced health information systems and technology at health centers will be crucial. In many ways, Massachusetts community health centers have made significant headway in planning for, obtaining and implementing electronic medical records (EMR). Thirty-four of the state's 52 community health centers have completed EMR implementations and five more are underway. Providing broad support for the implementation of EMR across the health center network will enhance innovative care management initiatives and ultimately ensure the success of health care reform in low-income communities.
