Disadvantaged Students Loan Repayment Program

The Loans for Disadvantaged Students program provides long-term, low-interest rate loans to full-time, financially needy students from disadvantaged backgrounds, to pursue a degree in allopathic medicine, osteopathic medicine, dentistry, optometry, podiatric medicine, pharmacy or veterinary medicine. Massachusetts State Loan Repayment Program

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health administers a loan repayment program for health care professionals who commit to working full time for two years in a community health center (up to $25,000 per year for two years). MassHealth Access Program Loan Repayment Program

The MassHealth Access Program Loan Repayment Program is available for dentists who commit to working in a community health center or public or nonprofit dental clinic. Dentists, within five years of graduating from dental school, will be awarded $30,000 for full time work and $20,000 for part-time work, over a two year period. National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program

The National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program provides up to $145,000, tax free, in loan repayment to primary care medical, dental and mental health clinicians choosing up to a five year commitment to the NHSC to work in a NHSC-approved site located in a federally-designated Health Professional Shortage Area. Shorter two year service awards for $50,000 are also available. To qualify, a provider must be a U.S. citizen with a valid unrestricted license or certificate in Massachusetts, and must work full-time. In March 2010, clinicians working part-time (20-39 hours each week, at least 45 weeks each year) at NHSC-approved sites will be eligible to apply to the NHSC demonostration program for Part-Time Loan Repayment.
