Personnel Referral Bulletin

Massachusetts community health centers offer exciting opportunities for individuals seeking positions in a dynamic and mission-driven environment.

In an effort to match candidates with the right community health center, the League distributes a "Personnel Referral Bulletin" to Massachusetts health centers, public health organizations, human services coalitions and policymakers across the state on a monthly basis. This PRB lists a range of opportunities and resources that include: Candidates, Non-Clinical Vacancies, Clinical Vacancies, Consultant Roster, News and Events.

Recent PRBs:

August 2007
April 2007

August/September 2006
May 2006

Guidelines:

The "Personnel Referral Bulletin" (PRB) is published by the League's Office of Public Affairs in coordination with the Clinical Affairs Department as part of the Recruitment & Retention (R&R) program. The League maintains a neutral position on all employers, positions and candidates; staff members, with the exception of the Publications and Marketing Assistant and Health Professions Recruitment Assistant, are not privy to the identity of employers. Only job descriptions for health center positions will be advertised; no job descriptions from League or health center vendors will be accepted.

  • Confidentiality of Candidates and Employers
Candidates have the option of being filed as a "Confidential Candidate," which protects their identity, contact information and current employment information. When an interested employer inquires about a "Confidential Candidate," their resume is not released until permission to do so has been granted by the candidate.

Employers have the option of being filed as "Confidential Employers," which protects their identity, location and current vacancy status.  When an interested candidate inquires about a "Confidential Employer," the League provides a detailed job description, but does not provide any further information without consent from the employer. In these cases, the League will act as a liaison between the interested candidates and the employer, collecting resumes and forwarding them accordingly. It is then the responsibility of the employer, if interested, to contact the candidates should the need for interviews arise.

  • Candidate Guidelines
The candidates listed in the PRB are professionals seeking various types of administrative or non-clinical positions. Candidates are listed in the PRB for no more than two consecutive editions after which, if they are still seeking placement, they are kept active in the League files for up to one year. During that year, they will continue to receive the monthly PRB and may apply for any non-clinical vacancies that are listed. At the end of that year, they are removed from the active files. Candidates may remove themselves from the active files at any time. Former candidates continue to receive the PRB after they are no longer active in our files. Former candidates also may request removal from the mailing list at any time.

Interested employers who make inquiries about specific candidates are forwarded the requested resume(s) and instructed to contact the candidate(s) directly if interested.

  • Non-Clinical Vacancies Guidelines
The vacancies detailed in the PRB are non-clinical health center positions.  Similar to the candidate listings, vacancies are listed for no longer than two consecutive editions of the PRB. If the position has not yet been filled, the vacancy is kept active for a six-month period. When this period has ended, the vacancy file is discarded. The employer is responsible for keeping their vacancy listings current and is not notified when their six-month period has expired and their file discarded. Every month, the employers are forwarded a draft of the upcoming edition of the PRB. They are to reply as to whether or not their vacancies have been filled. If their vacancies have been changed in any way, the employer must contact the League before the 15th of the month for the changes to be reflected in the PRB. If there is no reply from the employer, the vacancy is listed as is.
  • Clinical Vacancies Guidelines
The League actively recruits physicians, mid-level providers, nursing professionals, dental providers and mental health professionals who desire to work with medically under-served populations in health centers across Massachusetts. The R&R program works directly with health centers to obtain accurate vacancy listings and place providers. The R&R program also works with the National Health Services Corps and the Department of Public Health.  The PRB lists the current number of vacancies in different fields. Interested providers should contact the League to request an application packet. Once the League receives the candidate information form enclosed in our application packet along with a CV or resume, the League circulates the information to health centers with potential job opportunities. For more information and to download an application, visit our website at www.massleague.org/clinicians/career_opportunities.htm.
  • News and Events
Recent news, upcoming events and important information are listed in every PRB.
