Community Development
The League provides technical
assistance leadership to health center administrators, clinicians and board
members, and to other agencies that support or work in community-based care.
League staff render support to health centers on both an individual and
group basis, focusing on state and federal health regulatory and policy
issues. In addition, technical assistance is provided in a range of
administrative areas that include financial and personnel management,
capital development, grant writing and managed care systems. Focused on expanding health access to new
communities and new patient populations, the League participates
in statewide health planning activities. In addition, the League
renders assistance to locally based health committees and organizations
seeking to open health centers in their communities.
- Capital Development:
League staff, Community Health Center Capital Fund (the
League's capital development affiliate) and Capital Link work directly
with health centers on a variety of capital development activities, both in
Massachusetts and nationally.
- Health
Professional Shortage Area Development: The League works with
community health centers and other community based organizations to
develop Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designations which
demonstrate shortages of primary medical care, dental or mental health
providers and are a prerequisite to
apply for National Health Service Corps assistance.
- Medically
Underserved Area/Population Development: The
League works with community health centers and other community based
organizations to develop Medically Underserved Area/Population (MUA/P)
designations which are a prerequisite
to apply for grant awards to plan, develop and operate a
community health center under Section 330 of the U.S. Public Health Service
Act.
