Massachusetts State Loan Repayment Program

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is providing a loan repayment program (MLRP-2024) managed by the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, Inc. for health care professionals who commit to working full time or part time for two years in an eligible health care organization (up to $25,000 per year for two years). This program is funded through a combination of state and federal funds.

Loan repayment funds are available for a range of health professionals providing primary health care services such as substance use disorder (SUD) clinicians, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, mental health providers, oral health care providers, registered dental hygienists, and pharmacists. Please see the Program Guide for a complete list of professions.

The eligibility categories for SUD clinicians seeking educational loan repayment are being expanded. In addition to licensed LADCs (I and II) and certified CADCs (I and II), non-licensed practitioners with bachelor's degrees who are working in addiction treatment and recovery services settings are eligible. We will also now include those practicing in residential settings, as well as outpatient settings. Please refer to the Program Guide for more information.
